Barbara H. Schrader

LATHAM –  Barbara Schrader, 75, passed away on December 21, 2011, at the Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home in Clifton Park, NY after a long illness.  She grew up in Oswego, NY, the daughter of William E. and G. Nedra (Lancaster) Huss.  Barbara was a 1956 graduate of the State University of New York Teachers College at Oswego where she received her Bachelor of Science degree, summa cum laude, in just three years.  Barbara later received her Doctorate in Math Education from the State University of New York at Albany in 1973.  She retired in 1991 after a long teaching career that included employment as the Supervisor of Mathematics, K-12, within the East Greenbush Central School District. She was highly respected by her professional peers.  Barbara is remembered by all who met her as an intelligent, thoughtful and private person who loved her family, exercising, doing crossword puzzles, watching ice skating and “Judge Judy”.  Barbara was also an accomplished pianist and piano teacher.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Thomas R. Schrader.  She is survived by her three children, Diane (Anthony G.) Goetke of Rexford, NY, Donna (Leonard) Berl of Williamsburg, VA, and Jill (David) Clancy of Prince George, VA; her grandchildren, Amie and Anthony T. Goetke, Seth and Chad Berl; and her brother Dr. Barry Huss.

Mary F. Marr

COLONIE – Mary Frances Marr, 87, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, December 15, 2011. Daughter of Irish parents, James Ambrose Cavanagh and Anna Cavanagh, Mary was the beloved wife of 37 years of the late George William Marr, and mother of Patricia Lee (Ronald), Kathleen Wood (Ronald) and Sherry Marr. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Mary is a graduate of Cathedral Academy and Albany Business College.  Retired from the New York State legislature after many years of service, Mary was a devoted wife and mother who loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed playing bridge, dancing with her husband, travelling and spending time with friends. Her family remembers her as a kind-hearted, loving and gentle woman whose devotion to her Catholic faith guided and informed her life.

Funeral services, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Christ Our Light Catholic Church, 1 Maria Dr. Loundonville, NY 12211. Josie Chirieleison

ALBANY – Josie Chirieleison, 87, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland.  Josie was born in New York City, but lived most of her life on Long Island.  She worked as a dressmaker prior to her marriage and in later years, and for a time together with her husband owned and operated the Red Mill Food Shop, a sandwich shop in Patchogue, NY.  She also enjoyed gambling and loved to travel to Florida to play the numbers and horses.  Josie also enjoyed gardening, painting and traveling, and will be remembered for her pride in her family, her sense of humor, and how she enjoyed talking and joking with others.

Mrs. Chirieleison was predeceased by her husband Rocco in 1999.  She is survived by her sons Rocco Chirieleison of Albany, and Joseph Chirieleison of Long Island; and by her granddaughters Wendy and Lisa Chirieleison.

Margaret E. Ehrhardt

ALBANY – Margaret E. Bennett Ehrhardt, 84, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2011 at St. Peter’s Hospital.  Mrs. Ehrhardt was born in Lebanon, NH, and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School for Girls in Manchester, NH, and the New Hampshire College of Accounting & Finance.  She was married October 18, 1958 and lived most of her life in Albany, having moved from New Hampshire in 1952.  Before her marriage Mrs. Ehrhardt worked for the Air Transport Command in Manchester and Westover Field, MA, for the Labor Dept. in Washington, DC, and for Travelers Insurance Co. in Albany.  She will be remembered as a kind and loving wife and mother of Kathryn and Lawrence III.

Mrs. Ehrhardt was predeceased by her husband Lawrence J. Ehrhardt, Jr. on Sept. 19, 1988, and by her brother Albert J. Bennett.  She is survived by her children Kathryn Ehrhardt and Lawrence J. Ehrhardt, III; her sister Bertha A. Fallon of Hampton Beach, NH; a nephew and two nieces and their families of Maryland.

Phoebe M. Jones New

CLIFTON PARK – Phoebe M. Jones New, 77, of Clifton Park, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Ellis Hospital.  Phoebe was born and raised in East Schodack, the daughter of the late James Jones and Mildred Gerlach Jones.  She was a graduate of Columbia High School, and was employed by the Sterling Winthrop Drug Co. in Rensselaer for twenty years.  She was a member of the International Chemical Workers Union, the Joseph E. Zaloga Post #1520 of the American Legion, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Phoebe is survived by her daughter Mary K. (New) Elbadawy (Tom Yannick) of Troy; her sister Winifred Latham (Donald) of Nassau; her brother Merton Jones of Rensselaer; and her sisters Nancy McDonald of Brandon, VT, Mildred McKeon of Jacksonville, FL, and Deborah Deerfield of East Schodack.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday afternoon at 12:30.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday morning after 10:00.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in East Schodack.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joseph E. William M. Manning

ALBANY – William M. Manning, 84, of Albany, died Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.  Mr. Manning was born in Albany, the son of the late Martinus and Henrietta Schoonbeck Manning.  He lived here all his life until moving to Ocala, Florida in retirement, and returning to Albany two years ago.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was employed in electrical engineering at the V.A. Hospital in Albany for 34 years.  During his time at the hospital he was presented with many service awards, and had a key role in the installation of the nuclear medicine department.  In retirement, he and his wife traveled extensively.  He loved to camp and fish with his family and friends and he enjoyed participating in several bowling leagues.

Mr. Manning’s family will remember him as a wonderful husband and a loving father and grandfather.  He is survived by his beloved wife Charlotte Stoessel Manning; his daughters Charlene Ann Manning-Ellis (Curtis) of Albany, and Lisa Lynn Lenz (Herbert) of Round Top; and his grandchildren William Michael Lenz, Steven Andrew Lenz, and Sophia Grace Ellis.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters Ruth Manning and Margaret Manning.

Nicholas A. Fabozzi

ALBANY – Nicholas A. Fabozzi, 78, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at his home.  Nick was born in Albany, the son of the late Anthony and Antoinette Valenotti Fabozzi, and he lived here all his life.  He attended St. John’s School in Albany, served in the New York Army National Guard, and was employed for many years by Hamilton News in Albany.  He was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church and the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church for many years, and he also served for many years as a Committeeman for the Albany County Democratic Party.

Nick is survived by his beloved wife Carol Warner Fabozzi; he also was the loving father of Debbie Pasquali (Jim), and Mary Beth Champagne of Guilderland; and the loving grandfather of Jennifer and Matthew Pasquali, and Aaron Champagne.  He is also survived by his brother in law Sam Spadaro, and he was the loving uncle of Jo Ann and Paul Spadaro.  He was predeceased by his sister Anna Spadaro.
