Grace Marion Tiemann

AMSTERDAM - Grace Marion Jarvis Tiemann of Wilkenson Nursing Home, Amsterdam, New York, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2026, with family at her side.  Grace was born on December 23, 1931 in West Chazy Plattsburgh, New York, the daughter of Lillian & Edward Jarvis.  She was the 2nd youngest of eight children. Her siblings were Leon, Lillian, Joann, Edward, Harold, Dorothy, and Caroline. She was employed by multiple places including Greater Amsterdam School district as a school bus driver, Truax Road Elementary school in the cafeteria as an aide, Campbell Plastic of Schenectady, and Coleco of Amsterdam.

Grace was Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph’s church in Amsterdam. She enjoyed doing cross word puzzles, reading books, and doing scratch offs. In her younger days she would enjoy many activities like crocheting, making doilies and vests, sewing Barbie/Ken clothes, gardening, picking wild strawberries, and going to the casino.

On January 22, 1948 Grace married August Conrad Tiemann. He predeceased her on March 4, 2018. She had a son named Wayne Tiemann who died at birth.  She is survived by her two children, Glen Tiemann and Gail (Tom) Mueller; her grandchildren Nicholas (Lina) Mueller, Robert (Liz) Mueller, and Kimberly (Allen) Soodsma; and her great grandchildren Dominick Mueller, Alexis Soodsma, Brayden Soodsma and Riley Mueller.

A memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Stephens Church, 51 North Pawling St. Hagaman, New York, with Reverend Father Nathaniel Resila presiding.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
