ALBANY – William E. "Bill' Maloney, 70, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn on Thursday, April 16, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth (Betsy) Maloney, his best friend Petey, his loving siblings Kathleen (David Canova), Thomas (Debra), Edward (Melissa), and John (Sharlette); stepdaughter Christine Marrero; step grandchildren Logan, Nyla, and Primrose Marrero; and was a loving uncle of his nieces and nephews and grandniece.
Bill was born on August 27th 1955 to the late Dr. William E. and Eleanor D. Maloney. He was a graduate of the Milne School and Empire State College. Bill took delight in sharing his bag of chips with Petey. He enjoyed spending time at the family camp at Lake George, cruising the lake as he did his whole life. He also enjoyed finding good deals at Home Depot. Bill was known for rescuing and nursing small injured animals. Bill’s professional career included insurance and real estate, and he was also employed by Albany County. Bill was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Sons of St. Patrick, and Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany, on Tuesday, April 21st at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the church prior to the mass from 9:00 a.m.. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Shore Animal League America 25 Davis Ave., Port Washington, NY 11050 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
