ALBANY – Margaret J. Schweigard, 97, of Albany, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 while surrounded by her family at the Hospice Inn in St. Peter’s Hospital. Mrs. Schweigard was born in New York City, but had lived in this area for sixteen years. She was employed for many years by Reader’s Digest in Pleasantville, NY where she also raised her family. After retiring to Florida, she and her husband traveled extensively in their motor home, visiting all of the lower 48 states. Throughout her life she lived for her family and children. She loved her church, she loved to laugh, and she loved to cook for and care for everyone.
Mrs. Schweigard is survived by her devoted husband Edward Schweigard; her children Barbara Carl (John), Kenneth Schweigard (Susan), and Stephen Schweigard (Susan); and by her beloved nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Avenue, Albany on Monday from 4-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Avenue, Albany on Tuesday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in The Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie. ALBANY – Mary Ravida Benoit, 88, of Albany, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Lutheran Health Care Center in Delmar. Mrs. Benoit was born in Albany, and lived here all her life. She was a communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church, and was employed for many years by the Albany City School District. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520.
Mrs. Benoit was predeceased by her husband Joseph A. Benoit. She is survived by her children Joseph R. Benoit (Blanche) of Cohoes, Charles Benoit (Lynn) of Averill Park, Michael Benoit (Lois) of Hoosick Falls, Margaret Krisanda (Terry Teske) of Denver, CO, and James Benoit (Carolyn Burns) of Albany; her brothers Dominic Ravida of Maryland, and Thomas Ravida of Cohoes; and by seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Kalkbrenner; her brothers Jerome, Joseph, Anthony “Lefty”, Sebastian (Bosti), Michael, Charles, and Angelo Ravida.
The Family would like to give thanks to Good Samaritan Health Care Center, the nursing staff on the B/C wings and St. Peter’s Hospice for the excellent care given Mary.

ALBANY – Mary Gaffney Lapetina, 88, died at St. Peter’s Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Albany, on Monday, June 13, 2011. Born in Saratoga Springs, New York, Mary was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Gaffney. Mary graduated from Vincentian Institute and the College of St. Rose, where she received both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. She always had a special affinity for the college and served in a number of capacities over the years, including as a member of the Board of Trustees. She taught for two years at Vincentian Institute grade school before becoming an elementary teacher in the City of Albany Public school system for over 25 years. She will be remembered for the warmth of her smile, her enjoyment of life and her love for her family and friends.
She was the cherished wife for 63 years of Joseph M. Lapetina and loving mother of Mauro (Susan) Lapetina, Mary Meister (Christopher) Bartkowski, Rose (James) Sherin, and Katherine (Cammy) Better. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Elizabeth, Michael, and Andrew Lapetina, Mary (Scott) Doehla and Eric Meister, Christopher (Claire) Sherin and Laura Sherin, Joseph, Samuel and Katherine Better. Also survived by 4 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, James and Angelina Rovelli, as well as her niece and nephew and their families. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph P. Lapetina.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at the St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, for the wonderful care they gave our mother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 17 at 9:30 a.m. at The Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena), Hurst Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Avenue, Albany, N.Y. on Thursday, June 16, from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.

ALBANY – Angela M. (Michela) Pezzulo, 90, of Latham, died peacefully Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Teresian House in Albany surrounded by family. Mrs. Pezzulo was born in the South End of Albany, and lived most of her life at the home she built with her husband in Guilderland. As a woman of deep faith, and beloved homemaker, mother, friend and grandmother, she devoted her life to raising her children and grandchildren. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Guilderland.
Mrs. Pezzulo was predeceased by her husband, Andrew J. Pezzulo in 2009, to whom she was married for 66 years. She is survived by her children Andrew Pezzulo (Doreen Hagerman) of Tucson, AZ, Angela Hotaling (JR) of Schenectady, Thomas Pezzulo of Colonie, Paul Pezzulo (Jeanne) of Latham, and Peter Pezzulo (Teresa) of Guilderland; her daughter in law Sandra Pezzulo; her sister Emma Leonard; her brothers and sisters in law Joseph Pezzula; Alice Scialdone; Bessie Pezzula, and Marion Pezzulo; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Michela and cousin Elizabeth O’Hanlon.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 10:30, and from there to Christ the King Church, Sumter Ave., Guilderland at 11:30.
