
GUILDERLAND – William A. De Alleaume, 88, of Albany, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Teresian House. Bill was born in New Rochelle, NY, and resided in Albany after completing a bachelor’s degree in German with a French minor, and a master’s degree in library science at the State University at Albany. He was employed by the New York State Library for 32 years, serving as Acting Director and retiring as Principal Librarian. Bill was a communicant of All Saints Catholic Church (the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church) and Saint Brendan’s Catholic Church in Clearwater, Florida where he wintered for many years. At both parishes he sang in the choir and served as a cantor and lector. For the past five years, he resided at Brookdale Niskayuna where he led his fellow residents in song and was an avid BINGO player. Bill also enjoyed collecting fine jewelry and antique porcelain.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Anna M. Koch De Alleaume. He is survived by his children Dr. Lauren De Alleaume of Denver, CO, Paul William De Alleaume of Redondo Beach, CA, and Doris Stout (Warren) of Halfmoon. He was also predeceased by his sister Margaret De Alleaume Wright and daughter-in-law Helene De Alleaume.
A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 9am in All Saints Catholic Church, Homestead St., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Memory Gardens at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
