Vivian L. Jones

GUILDERLAND - Vivian L. Jones, 84, of Guilderland, NY, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Born in Albany on October 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Stuart H. Crouse and Vivian Esther Crouse. She was also predeceased by her brother, Stuart N. Crouse, and her sister, Roberta “Robin” Leinbach.

Viv is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Frederick L. “Lee” Jones, and their beloved children: Mark F. Jones (Laura Cerrone), Scott S. Jones (Denise Carney-Jones), and Darci Efaw (Kevin). She was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren: Lindsay Jones Alves (Diego), Morgan Jones, Aidan Jones, Nicholas Jones, Braedyn Efaw, and Kyle Efaw.

Viv was a proud graduate of Guilderland High School, Class of 1958, and went on to earn her degree from Albany Business College in 1960. She began her professional career at the law firm of Poskanzer & Muffson in Albany before dedicating herself to raising her family starting in 1963.

In 1977, Viv returned to the workforce as a Teaching Assistant with the Guilderland Central School District, where she made a lasting impact on countless students until her retirement in 2002. She also served her community as a volunteer EMT with the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s.

A lifelong lover of the outdoors and adventure, Viv spent her summers at Warners Lake, a cherished tradition she passed on to her children and grandchildren. She found joy in walking, hiking, antique hunting, garage sales, and scenic drives through the Helderbergs—often with her mother by her side and her kids in the back seat.

Viv treasured many family vacations in Myrtle Beach and other destinations, and she had a deep love for music. Whether at the piano or strumming a guitar, she filled her home with melodies, often singing and dancing, encouraging others to join in.

Viv's warmth, creativity, and joyful spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Unity Lutheran Church, 1500 Western Avenue, Albany, NY 12203, immediately followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery after the service.
