Richard L. Thorne

ALBANY - Richard L. Thorne, 69, passed away, on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna Marie Thorne. Rick was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School. He worked in Albany County Real Property for several years and later served as Operations Director for the Albany Parking Authority, from where he retired.

Rick was a member of the Knights of Columbus #173, and former Grand Knight. He was also a member of the Polish American Citizens Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, in Albany. Rick served for many years as Democratic Committee Member and Ward Leader in the City of Albany.

Rick was predeceased by his parents Charles and Anna Marie; and his grand-niece, Hope Ann. He is survived by his brother, Charles (Madelyn) Thorne; nieces, Jessica Ann Kuftiak (Steven), Alison Marie Thorne; nephew, Michael Charles Thorne; and five great-nieces and nephews.

The family thanks the nurses and staff of St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion and a special thank you to Rick’s good friend Ed Shea. Services will be held privately. However, a gathering to celebrate Rick’s life, will be held in June, at a time and place to be announced.
