Nancy Gallup-Byerwalters

ALBANY - Nancy Gallup-Byerwalters, 71, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, with family by her side.  Nancy was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Kenneth H. Gallup and Elizabeth VanOostenbrugge Gallup.  She lived in the area all her life. Nancy was always reading and learning about history and working on family genealogy.  She loved art and had tremendous talent, creating stained glass, sewing quilts and clothing, including Victorian and civil war era reproductions.  She inspired and taught others. She enjoyed good conversations, playing "bones" and giving hugs on both sides.  She loved being in the outdoors and kayaking. Her family and friends will dearly miss her love and kindness and her zest for life and learning.

Nancy is predeceased by her siblings, William Gonyea and Virginia Porter. Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, the light of her life, David Byerwalters, whom she married on June 23, 1989; her daughter Bryony Spaziani; her son Ian Spaziani; her grandchildren she adored Adeline Noble and James and Skylar Spaziani; numerous nieces and nephews and members of her extended family; and by her lifelong dear friend Rose Robertson (Roger) of New Orleans, LA.

The family would like to thank her doctors, pulmonary rehab and hospice.

Calling hours will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Avenue, Albany on Saturday, January 10th, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with family remembrances beginning at 1:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.  Interment will be at a later date.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
