Marie O. Spore

GUILDERLAND – Marie Opar Spore, 94, of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center. Marie was born in Troy, the daughter of the late Michael and Olga Buczak Opar. She was a graduate of Catholic High School in Troy, and was employed for a time by the New York Telephone Company before staying home to raise her family. She later was employed for many years by the Town of Guilderland. She was a longtime communicant of All Saints Catholic Church and the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church. 

Marie enjoyed gardening, walking with neighbors, bowling on Friday nights at the University Club in Albany, trips to Cape Cod and Siena basketball games. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Marie had a genuine love of life and a spirit of endless joy and optimism. All those who knew her will remember how much she loved a good party. 

Marie was predeceased by her husband Robert Spore. She is survived by her children Judith Robards (David) of Burnt Hills, and R. David Spore (Jennifer) of Delmar; her brother Michael Opar (the late Carolyn) of Florida; her sister Janet Snyder (the late John) of Virginia; her grandchildren Allison Hynes (Brian), Keely Goody (Peter), and Caroline, Timothy, and Ella Spore; her great grandchildren Lillian and Noelle Hynes, and Ruth and Joni Goody and by several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Catholic Church, Friday morning, July 24th, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the church prior to the mass beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow the mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Spore Family Scholarship at Siena University, Development Office, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
