John F. Allen

VOORHEESVILLE – John F. Allen, 72, of Voorheesville, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026. John was born in Albany, the son of the late William H. Allen, Jr. and Mary Joan Reilly Allen. He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, and lived in Texas for a short period, but otherwise always lived in the Albany area. He was a carpenter by trade until joining the New York State Dept. of Taxation and Finance where he grew as an expert at Tax Law. John excelled in sports in his youth, especially baseball. John remained an avid sports fan through his life with favorites being football and horse racing. John was always up to date on current events. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor, his sharp wit, and story telling. He loved living vicariously through his sons. 

John is survived by his wife Cyndy Allen; his sons Gregory J. Allen of Saratoga, and Shane P. Allen of Brooklyn; his brothers James Allen (Janet) of Estero, Fl, Thomas Allen of Peoria, AZ, and Robert Allen (Kathleen) of Wilmington, MA; his sister-in-law Lisa Allen of Jackson Springs, NC; and by his nieces and nephew Morgan and Brittany Allen and James Allen. He was predeceased by his son Justin K. Allen as well as his brothers William H. Allen, III and Terrance Allen.
