Dolores C. DeSimone

ALBANY – Dolores Carmina DeSimone, 93, of Albany and formerly from Rochester, New York passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Teresian House Nursing Home. Dolores was born May 11, 1932 in Rochester, New York to Dominick Camardo and Eleanora Sasso. Her parents both tragically passed away when she was only14 years old. Following their passing, she was raised, along with her sister, Alma, by Eva and Nick Amico in Rochester. For years, Dolores proudly worked in her husband Salvatore’s independently owned Insurance Office as well in the front office at the Grandview Home for Adults in Rochester. She was always the go to person in the office for the residents’ needs. Dolores lived in the Rochester area until moving to Albany several years ago after the passing of her husband to be closer to her daughter and family.

While not always known for her culinary skills, she always hosted the perfect Thanksgiving for the entire family. Most things she did around the house also came with the command, “Sal come get this” and the whir of a vacuum, which legend has it she used on the driveway once to get it extra clean. Dolores always enjoyed dinners out with her large circles of friends from her childhood club and in her later years her friends on Ashbrook Circle.

Dolores was predeceased by her husband Salvatore DeSimone; and is survived by her daughter Dr. Cheryl DeSimone DeVito (Dr. Michael DeVito) of Voorheesville, New York; her grandchildren Michelle Marinello Esq. (Dr. Patrick Marinello) of Slingerlands, New York, and Matthew DeVito (Heather DeVito) of Verona, New Jersey; and her great grandchildren Christopher DeVito, Anthony Marinello, and Madeleine Marinello. She is also survived by her many precious nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister Alma Monachino.

The family would like to thank the Teresian House staff for the excellent, compassionate care and support she received during her stay there, particularly Nicola Rizzo NP and the entire staff of 6-B.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave, Albany on Saturday, July 26th at 12:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Saturday morning before the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be held privately at a later date at the Saratoga National Cemetery.
