Deborah M. Divorl

EAST GREENBUSH, NY - Deborah M. Divorl, 69, of East Greenbush, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home. Debbie was born and raised in New York City. Despite being afflicted with cerebral palsy, she was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Manhattan, and Marymount Manhattan College. She taught at a parochial school in Manhattan for a time and then served as a Social Worker for the Archdiocese of New York, before moving to Albany in 1996. In Albany she operated the thrift shop at St. Patrick's Church, and was very active in the Christ Child Society of Albany, which presented her with the Clare Stein Award. She also completed the Kateri Institute for Lay Ministry Formation program in Pastoral Care. While a resident of Evergreen Commons for the past sixteen years, she also served her fellow residents with her pastoral care.

Debbie was predeceased by her parents Mary R. Curtis and Anthony H. Divorl. She is survived by her cousins Alison Curtis, Cynthia Curtis-Cresci, Charlotte Whitescarver and David Curtis; and by many dear friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 1st, at 10:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be held privately in St. Peter's Cemetery, Yonkers.
