Colleen A. Murphy

SCHOHARIE - Colleen Ann (Young) Murphy, 61, of Schoharie, NY passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at her home under the loving care of her husband. Colleen was born on February 6, 1964 in Troy, NY to Lawrence Young and Bonita (Sawyer) Washburn. She attended Scotia-Glenville High School and went on to work a variety of jobs including waitressing, brazing, and co-owning a bungee towline business with her husband. Her favorite job, though, was that of a stay-at-home mom and, later, babysitter to her granddaughter, Kylee.

Colleen enjoyed writing and crafts throughout her life. She loved gardening, cross stitching, crocheting, and researching genealogy. Most of all, she loved holidays and spending time with her family. She had a special talent for listening and spreading positivity.

She is survived by: her husband, Michael Murphy, whom she was proud to celebrate her 40th anniversary with on November 24th; her daughters Jelena Shellenberger (Daniel Miner) of Watervliet and Kaitlin (Devin) Schlicht of Sloansville; her grandchildren, Kylee and Desmond Shellenberger and Ethan and Aaron Schlicht; her mother, Bonita (Sawyer) Washburn of Troy; and her siblings.

She was predeceased by her father, Lawrence Young; stepfather, George Washburn; and cousin Carla Sapienza.
