ALBANY – Mary Florence Schofield, 93, passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at the Kingsway Arms Nursing Center in Schenectady, NY.  Mary was born in Montréal West, Canada, where her grandfather was mayor 20 years earlier.  In 1950, she married Frederick David Schofield, a decorated World War II fighter pilot.  Mary was employed as a draftsman by the Canadian Pacific Railway.  In 1961 she, her husband, daughter, and son moved to Utica, NY, followed by a move in 1966 to the Albany, NY area.  Here Mary worked as a real estate broker, and lived many years in Newtonville, before moving to Guilderland and later to The Beverwyck.  Mary was an avid golfer and curler.   She was a member of the Albany Curling Club for 48 years, and in 1985 won the Empire State Bonspiel.  She recently lived with and was cared for by her daughter, a Registered Nurse.

Mary was predeceased by her husband “Dave” Schofield in 2003.  She is survived by her  daughter Jan Schofield Briski (Robert) of Earlton, NY; her son Frederick David Schofield, Jr. (Marielez) of Glenmont, NY; and her grandchildren David, Brett, and Jeremy Briski.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Wednesday, November 11th at 12:00 noon.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home beginning at 11:30am Wednesday.  A reception will immediately follow the service.  Interment will be in the Town of Mount Royal, Montréal.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
