
EAST GREENBUSH – Eileen M. “Cookie” McCarthy Pierce, 67, of East Greenbush, passed away suddenly from natural causes on Monday, January 24, 2022. Born in Albany, she is the daughter of Virginia Kiernan McCarthy and the late John J. McCarthy of Albany, and the beloved wife of Paul D. Pierce. Cookie and Paul met in the hallways of Cardinal McCloskey High School which they both attended in 1970, and have been together ever since. They were married in September 1977.
Cookie worked various jobs in the Capital District in her younger years, and then went to work for New York State, retiring in 2016, but her most important job was being a caring and loving mom to her two sons. Cookie was extremely proud of her family and loved ones, and is the very proud grandma to the apple of her eye Emersyn Grace.
Cookie was predeceased by her dad Jack. She is survived by her husband Paul; her sons David & Alexander (Carolyn); her granddaughter Emmie; her mother Virginia; her sisters Mary Ellen (John) Walsh and Katie (Edward) Carey; her brothers John and Timothy (the late Sharon) McCarthy; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and true close friends. She will truly be missed by all who loved and knew Cookie.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday morning at 9:30 a.m., and from there to Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave, Albany at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Kindly wear a mask when attending. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to the Wildwood Programs , 1190 Troy-Schnectady Rd, Latham, NY 12110; or Living Resources Foundation, 300 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203.
