Catherine T. Musella

February 16, 2022 By Stephen 12 Condolences

Catherine

ALBANY – Catherine T. Musella, 91, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Monday, February 15, 2022. Born on February 20, 1930, in Albany, NY, Catherine was the daughter of the late Linda and Urbano Caradori and wife of the late Samuel Musella. She was a graduate of Philip Schuyler High School.

Catherine, affectionately known as Cookie, was quite the dancer. She and Sam would have people marveling at them as they strolled across the dance floor, especially when they were jitterbugging. Back in the 60’s and 70’s, Cookie worked at the Silo Restaurant and at Shop Rite’s Donut Hut. She had such a loving and outgoing personality, making many friends and leaving a lasting impression on many. Above all, Cookie was devoted to her family and enjoyed hosting family gatherings and cooking for everyone, especially her famous eggplant, chicken cutlets, grilled cheese and fried dough. She was happiest when surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Cookie is survived by her loving children, Ralph (Kathy Blazo) Musella, Dan (Cathy) Musella, and Alida (Mike) Jackson. Cookie was the beloved Noni to her grandchildren David Musella, Kathryn DiGiovanni (Shawn), Kristen (Frank) Belli, Danny Musella, Sammy Musella and Alexa Jackson, and her great-granddaughter Mia DiGiovanni. She is also survived by her brother-in-law William Fox. Cookie leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Cookie was predeceased by her sisters Lillian (Tom) Beaver, Laura (Guy) Fusco, Mary Treffiletti, Helen DeWitt, and Elsa Fox.

The family would like to thank Landmark Health, especially Naomi, for the compassionate care, support and kindness provided over the past several years. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 20 Sumter Avenue, Guilderland, NY, Saturday, February 19th, at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may visit with the family prior to Mass from 8:30–9:45 a.m. in the Knights Chapel of the Church.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Catherine T. Musella’s memory to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202, or to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation, 8815 Conroy Windermere Road, Suite 309, Orlando, FL 32835.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com .

I have so many great memories of Aunt Cookie. We would go to Ralph’s ball games and then stay at Aunt Cookies and I got to see Pop whenever we did that. Aunt Cookie also made the best pizza in the 518 and I loved to hear her speak of our families history what areas of Italy they lived in and what they did for a living. She was such a genuine person and will be so missed. From our family to Cookies our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I want to express my condolences to Catherine’s entire family. She had one of the most upbeat and outgoing personalities. Never a bad word about anything. She always worked hard and when she was done she played hard enjoyed life. She and Sam were a great couple. She was a small part of the Silo Restaurants help but she left her mark and will never be forgotten.
