William W. Roylance, Sr.

ALBANY – William W. Roylance, Sr., 89, of Albany, passed away at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center on Friday, November 6, 2015.  Bill was born in Saratoga Springs and raised in Cohoes.  He attended Cohoes High School, and joined the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific.  After the war he completed high school and was employed by Montgomery Wards and the A&P Bakery.  He was then employed by the U.S. Post Office in Albany, retiring after 26 years.  Bill was an avid reader and card player, and enjoyed writing and drawing.  He also served as a volunteer in the soup kitchen at the former St. Patrick’s Church in Albany.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Julia Merolle Roylance; his sons William W. Roylance, Jr. (Mary) of Menands, Paul Roylance (Christine) of Loudonville, and Wayne Roylance (Alla) of Brooklyn; his grandchildren Stephen Roylance, Nicole Claris (Lionel), Joshua (Margaret), Michael (Alexis), and John Roylance (Carrie Isensee); his great grandchildren Simon, Maeve, Declan, Thomas, and Aria Roylance; and by several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his son Scott Roylance, and by his brothers Leonard and Leon Roylance.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday at 12:00pm.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home prior to the service on Saturday from 10am – 12pm.
