William J. Murray, Jr.

WESTERLO – William J. Murray, Jr., 67, of Westerlo, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Bill was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Guilderland. He was a graduate of Guilderland High School, and served for four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  He attended Hudson Valley Community College, and he was employed as Chief Engineer at the former Borden Dairy in Menands, and then was Plant Engineer at Cappiello Dairy in Schenectady.  Bill loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading the Bible, fishing, being on the water, and hiking in the woods with his dogs.  His favorite place to be was at the family camp (Jan Camp) in Speculator, NY.

Bill is survived by his wife Diane Tompkins Murray; his children William C. Murray of Chatham, MA, Jonathan S. Murray (Carrie) of Berne, and Laura Ann Murray of Schenectady; his siblings Judith Margiotta (Michael), Timothy Murray (Maryann), Deborah L. Moak (Daniel), Sharon Connell (Thomas), Pamela Moak (Barry), Donna Murray, and Daniel Murray (Donna); his grandchildren Ava and Shawn Murray; and by several nieces and nephews.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to the nurses, doctors and staff at Albany Medial Center. Their professionalism and compassion during the past five years were appreciated beyond words.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 10:00.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl St., Albany, NY 12202; or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
