LOUDONVILLE – Virginia L. “Kip” Barr Kotecki of Loudonville, entered into eternal life with her family by her side on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital. Kip was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Jack Barr and Mary Kenyon Barr. She was a graduate of the Cathedral Academy, and met and married her husband and “fox hole” buddy in August 1952, and from then on lived a happily ever after life. They always had each other’s back and were never apart. Her life was devoted to being a giving and loving wife and mother. Later in her life, Kip became known in the fashion business for her unique style and ability to dress many of the local ladies of fashion. She was employed by M. Solomon for 25 years. She also directed the Saratoga Fashion Show, where her talent in fashion was displayed on a larger stage. Still later in life, her artistic side blossomed into paintings, and many local homes proudly display her work.
Kip will be most remembered for her happiness and sense of humor, which she shared with her friends and neighbors in Loudonville, Lake George, and her wintering friends in Sand Key, FL.
Kip is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Stephen J. Kotecki; her three sons Stephen Kotecki, II (Patty), Keith Kotecki, and Paul Kotecki (Lynn); her grandchildren Brielle, Keith Jr., Courtney, and Paul “PJ” Kotecki, and David Russo; her brother John Barr (Doris); her sister Suzanne Kendall; her niece Debbie Carney, as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Kara A. Kotecki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, December 5th, at 10:30am in St. Pius X Church, Crumite Rd., Loudonville. Relatives and friends are invited. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held privately in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice Inn, St. Peter’s Hospital, 315 S Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany. No words can express my deepest sorrow and sympathy for my Uncle Steve, my cousins Steve, Keith and Paul and the rest of my family for the loss of such an incredible woman.
Never have I seen a love that Uncle Steve and Aunt Kip had for each other.
My Aunt Kip was always there for me any time through out my life.
We could sit for hours reminiscing and laughing while sipping on a few cocktails and just enjoying the peace and beauty of her home that she took such pride in.
I will miss, but cherish those memories forever
I have been blessed and very lucky to have had my Aunt Kip
She will be in my heart forever.

My mom Mernie asked me to send her deepest sympathy to all of you for the loss of Kip.
She asked me if I remember when I was little and we went to the Saratoga pool and Kip and her 3 boys were there. I really don’t remember that day but I bet Kip did. So sorry for your loss.

Steve and Family,
I am so very sorry to hear about your loss of Kip.
I will always remember her one way….. with a huge smile on her face, and that unforgettable laugh right behind it.. Heard it often during the many social visits she and Steve made to our house while growing up.
Kip was a wonderful friend to Mom (Sonya) and will be greatly missed.
An unforgettable wife, mom and friend.
Love and blessings to all the family,
Mike

Prayers for Steve and his family. So sorry for your loss. Kip was a wonderful kind woman. I knew her as a friend in our family through my Aunt Rose Kotecki, my parents and even when I took a fashion course at M Solomon’s as a teen.
