Veronica “Ronnie” Drislane

October 24, 2022 By Stephen 2 Condolences

Veronica

ALBANY – Veronica “Ronnie” Deyo Drislane went home to God on October 22, 2022. Born in Albany, July 19, 1931, she was the youngest  of five children born to the late James J. Deyo, Jr. and Cecelia Wilpers Deyo. Ronnie graduated from Albany High School where she was a majorette and a star athlete.  She worked for the NY Telephone Company before leaving to marry David and raise a family.  She later went on to work for NYS DMV and Division for Youth.

A beloved mother and grandmother, Ronnie treasured spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was famous for her huge oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. An avid gardener, she became known for her raspberries and giant pumpkins.  Ronnie stayed active throughout her life with bowling, tennis, bicycling and especially cross-country skiing. She loved to vacation on Cape Cod and spent many summers with her family at their cottage on Saratoga Lake. She liked to travel with trips to Ireland, the Mediterranean, Switzerland and to Rome and the Holy Land.

An active member of Mater Christi Parish in Albany for over fifty years, Ronnie had a deep faith that carried her through life.

In addition to her parents, Ronnie was pre-deceased by her husband David Drislane; her sister Cecelia Taylor; and her brothers Patrick Deyo and James Deyo.  She is survived by her children Judy (Mark Wilson) of Princetown, David (Heather) of East Greenbush and Peter (Michele) of Albany; her granddaughters Jennifer Drislane, Alexis Drislane, Christine (Matthew) Wilson-Smith and Rebecca (Nick) Vadalabene; and her great-grandchildren Bryson, Mackenzie, and Ryan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Ingersoll Place and Kingsway Arms for their wonderful care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m., and from there to The Parish of Mater Christi, Hurst Ave. & Hopewell St., Albany, at 10:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ronnie’s name to Catholic Charities Community Maternity Services to support adoption services.  27 North Main Avenue, Albany, NY 12203-1416.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com .
