My condolences to the Rossi family. He will always be Fr Gilmartin to me. He was the best priest and role model. While he left the priesthood, he continued to exemplify sweetness and kindness. Rest In Peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was an important part of my life and I will miss him. I want to pass some of my thoughts on to you but will do so in private.
How fitting that he should pass into eternity on the birthday of Jesus.
Be well.

” Father Gilmartin”……”the priest who married us”……”Tom”…..”a good friend to our family”…….”an exceptional, good, caring, understanding, human being!”
Tom Gilmartin was all of these and much more. He was a REAL person, not only when he was a Roman Catholic cleric, but throughout his whole life, ministering in other capacities and churches. He will never be forgotten by my family nor by my husband and I. He was THAT special!
Rest easy, Tom.
Rest in the Lord, for I am sure that is where you are.

Dear Carol Ann and family…Mike and I send our sincere sympathy on the passing of Tom (always Father Tom to me)…So many memories of his visits to Mom & Dad’s (Mary & Peter Jones’) house. Tom had a brilliant sense of humor, always made us laugh and smile! When I was attending St. Rose (and trying to find my direction in life), there were several times Tom picked me up on campus, took me out for pizza dinners and we would discuss career options and anti-war protests. He was most helpful…Also, my children attended Menands School and Father Tom was beloved by so many in Menands! We currently live in New Hampshire, however, two of my children live in Albany. Perhaps, after COVID, we can meet sometime….Blessings to you and your family…

Tom was an angel from God, who touched many lives. As for my life he was a special part of my whole life, from 1967 at Mercy to baptizing both my son’s and officiating at my wedding. We kept in touch over the years through cards and written notes. He will always be a very special friend and confidant. He will be greatly missed. Be at peace Tom you’re in God’s hands now. We were all so heartbroken to hear of Br Tom’s passing. I will never forget all of the beautiful Tuesday night and Sunday morning sermons he delivered to all of us at Christian Assembly or Yardboro church, as he’d say. Br Tom always had such a charismatic way of preaching and loved to make us laugh! He’d always have a little joke to share and I’ll never forget his signature “Bazinga!” We had the blessing of Br Tom marrying my husband and I… and we later found out, while in the Priesthood some 30 years earlier, he actually married my husband’s parents! We loved sharing that story! When he retired from ministering to our church, he’d always send little cheery little letters to say hello! Br Tom truly truly will be missed, he left such a beautiful mark in this world and honored the Lord by faithfully following a great calling to share His message and bring people to the Lord! We are blessed to have had the honor of knowing him! May he be lovingly welcomed by the Lord – he’s finally home. We are praying for God’s comfort for Br Tom’s family and his dear friends, who loved him like family.
