GUILDERLAND – Susan Marie Macri, 55, of Guilderland, passed away after a sudden illness on Thursday, October 1, 2015.  Sue was born in Albany, and lived in the area all her life.  She was a graduate of Mercy High School, class of ’79, and attended Maria College.  She was employed for many years by the Albany County Dept. of Social Services until her recent retirement.

Sue was predeceased by her parents Ernest V. Mason, and Rose A. Dowen Dunigan Mason.  She is survived by her beloved fiancé James H. Finnigan, III; her sister Judith Cocca (Nicholas Kurtessis) of Voorheesville; her brother Francis Dunigan (Laura), of Homosassa, FL; and by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 8:15, and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS), at 9:00.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m.  Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Western Turnpike Rescue Squad, 200 Centre Dr, Albany, NY 12203.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.

Sue and I went through both grade school at St. Margaret Mary’s and Mercy High, together. I have such great memories of her and I hanging out at each other’s homes as children and then as young “adults”. I was so sad to hear of her passing. She was always sweet natured, so it didn’t surprise me to read of her compassion towards others, volunteering, etc.. Heaven has gained a true angel.
