
DELMAR – Ruth L. Zell, 85, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Ruth was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Francis J. Zell and Ruth M. deSeve Zell. She was a graduate of Vincentian Institute in Albany, and the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Ruth was employed by Brooks Fashion Stores in various positions of retail management, both in Albany and New York City. She also was employed by other retail stores both in design and management. She enjoyed painting, sewing, and a variety of arts and crafts.
Ruth is survived by her brother Francis G. Zell (the late Dolores) of Albany; her sister Barbara A. Zell of Albany; her brother V. Joseph Zell (Bourbon) of Sarasota, FL; her nephews Brian F. Zell (Linda), Matthew J. Zell, Sr. (Valerie), Justin F. Zell (Kasey), and Brandon L. Zell (Kristina); and by her grand nieces and grand nephews Brianna, Morgan, Matthew Jr., Fallon, and Broderick Zell.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Friday morning at 8:15, and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St. (behind CVS), Albany. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. I realize how late this message is. I went to FIT with Ruth and she was in my wedding in 1957. We went to Florida, once, and I ever heard from her again….. soooooo sorry for that. I did hear that she moved to Florida, but had no idea where. It is so sad that we lose touch with others.
