ALBANY – Rosina  (Commisso) DeLeo completed her life here on Monday, August 8, 2011, at her home in Albany, surrounded by her adoring family.  Born September 11th, 1925 in Siderno Marina, Calabria, Italy, Rosina was the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria Commisso.  She emigrated to Albany in 1948 with her family and was an Albany resident the rest of her life.

Rosina was an accomplished seamstress, and a gifted Italian meal maker.  She served as a mother and nurturer for many children, in addition to her six children.  Beginning with her younger sister, Angelina, and youngest brother Tony and spanning 3 generations to her 3 year old grandchild Valentina, –  “Rosie” always had children surrounding her.  Whether she was making pastina or singing Italian nursery rhymes, she was happiest in her home, with children to care for.

Rosina is survived by and will be profoundly missed by her husband of 50 years, Cosimo DeLeo, her sister Angelina Camarata  (Chris) Guilderland, brother Antonio Commisso, Naples, Fl., her sisters in law Angie Commisso and Vincenzina Commisso,  her six children, Cosimo Crupi (Anne) of Guilderland, Dominick of Albany, Maria Dailey (Mark) of Saratoga Springs, Lisa Brogan (Timothy) of Clifton Park, Gina Kennedy (David) of Latham and Rosanna Bonacci (John) of Guilderland, her grandchildren, Laura Rose, Jenna, Michael, Brendan, Madeline, Zinera and Valentina.  Rosie also will be missed by her nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Rosina is predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Cosimo Commisso, and her grandson, Christopher Gene Dailey.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Mary Ellen Drislane and to Shirley Street, RN of Community Hospice, for their compassionate care and sympathy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10:00 in All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary’s Church), Homestead St., Albany.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home today from 4-8 p.m, or Wednesday morning prior to the mass beginning at 8:30.  Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.  Contributions can be made to the Christopher Dailey Foundation, 23 Brookside Drive. Gina and Family…My words cannot express my sadness for you. I know that her suffering is over now, but it does not ease the pain of loss. I never had the honor of meeting her, but I know through your stories and who YOU are, that this world lost a beautiful person…. and that for God and the Heavens, it just got a little brighter. My condolences to you and your family during this time. Please take care of each other, and if I can be of help in any way, I will. I am so so sorry.
