I worked side by side with Bob at DOT when I was just out of school in 1970 and starting my career as a Junior Engineer in the Bridge Office. Bob taught me a lot about what it takes to get a decent set of bridge plans put together. He was a fine example of strength – physically and mentally (nothing seemed to ruffle his feathers). He was one tough cookie, but not at all in a bad way. I admired that. I’m privileged that I had a chance to work with and learn from him. I had a chance last summer to chat with Bob. What a treat that was! I am saddened by his passing.

May his memory live on.

We were great friends in our high school days. Unfortunately we lost contact when I left Albany for a Navy career. I have many pleasant memories of days with him. He was the best man at my wedding to my wife Edie. Our condolences to his family.

Condolence from Rocco Padula on February 19th, 2019 11:37 am

Sending light and love to the entire Ecuyer and Calsolaro families. Bob was my mother Marie Porcaro Padula’s cousin, and she was always delighted to see him at family functions, etc. She always spoke highly of him. Wishing you all peace during this difficult time, and please know that the extended family will be keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers. God bless and rest in peace, Bob. Until we meet again, this is just a temporary goodbye.

Condolence from Frank Naret on February 19th, 2019 1:29 pm

I started working in the Bridge Office in 1977 so I’ve known Bob since then. I had the good fortune of working with him for several years in Larry Johanson’s Special Design Unit. I learned a lot from Bob, especially to be very concise and precise when writing. There was no gray area, which made Bob the perfect specification writer/reviewer. I hadn’t seen him since he retired but reconnected at several events last year. It was really good to see him and I’m very saddened at his passing. My sympathies to his family.

My deepest sympathies for your loss, I know this is a very difficult time for your family but you can rejoice in knowing “there is going to be a resurrection “ (Acts 24:15) Jehovah has promised this and he is, according to Titus 1:2, “ the God who cannot lie.”
