Rita E. Vandenberg

ALBANY – Rita E. Goebel VanDenberg, 96, of Guilderland, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center.  Rita was born in Albany, and lived all her life in Albany and Guilderland.  She was employed in the office of Gerard Barnaby M.D. for many years, and was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Guilderland. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5294 in Altamont.  Rita loved to travel, and enjoyed many trips with her late husband.

Rita was predeceased by her husband Alvin VanDenberg.  She is survived by her daughter Rita Budwey (Michael) of Holliston, MA; and by her grandchildren Stephanie and Michael Budwey.  She was predeceased by her brother Willard Goebel.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning, November 21^st,  at 10:30 a.m., and from there to Christ the King Church, Sumter Ave., Guilderland, at 11:30 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather in the funeral home at 4:30 pm Monday, November 20^th,  for a service of prayer and remembrance.  All are welcome.   Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  The family suggests memorial contributions to The Community Hospice, St. Peter’s Hospital Foundation, 310 S.
