
ALBANY – Raymond S. Devine, 83, of Albany died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at the Teresian House. Ray was born in Albany, the son of the late Richard H. and Ruth Powell Devine, and lived here all his life. He was a graduate of Vincentian Institute, class of 1945, attended Siena College, and served in the Army National Guard. He was employed by the New York Telephone Co. for twenty years, and also worked as a salesman in professional electronics. He was a member of the former St. Catherine of Siena Church for over 50 years, and throughout his life found joy in spending summers at his family’s camp on Lake Luzerne, golfing and taking trips to Bermuda, being a fan of the Boston Red Sox, spending time on his many boats on Lake George, his cars and his faithful dogs.
Ray was predeceased in 2003 by his beloved wife of over 50 years Jean Wolf Devine. He is survived by his children Maureen Devine of Albany and Bolton Landing, Nancy Adams (Stephen) of Scotia, Daniel Devine (Renee) of Clifton Park, James Devine (Michelle) of East Berne, and Richard Devine (Debbie Milavec) of Colonie; his sister Marian R. Devine of Albany; his brother in law Jack McDaniel of Albany; his grandchildren Matthew and Meghan Adams, Evan Devine, Monique, Connor and Laura Devine, and Nicole Devine; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John Devine.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday morning at 8:30, and from there to the Parish of Mater Christi (formerly St. Catherine of Siena Church), Hurst Ave., Albany at 9:30. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. Memorial contributions for the benefit of the 5th Floor at the Teresian House may be made to the Teresian House Foundation, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203.
