Paulette “Mémé” Jakob

DORA, FL – Paulette “Mémé” Jougounoux Jakob, 89, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 21, 2016, in Mt. Dora, Florida, after a bravely fought battle with lymphoma. A longtime resident of the Albany, NY area, Paulette was born in Chaussenac, France on May 22, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Frédéric Jougounoux and Marie-Rose Raffy, sister of the late Yvonne, and wife of the late Max Jakob.  After moving to the United States in 1951, Paulette was employed as a merchandise buyer until her retirement, after which she could be found watching Yankee games or working tirelessly in her flower gardens, which were admired by all. Paulette was the loving mother of Elsie Lansing of Malta, NY and Danielle Powell of Mt. Dora, FL; mother-in-law of Richard William Powell and Edwin Lansing; grandmother of Edwin, Jr., Nicole, Andrea, Fabienne, Max, and Richard William II; and great-grandmother of Julia, Joshua, Colette, Joe, Grace, Rory, Richard William III, Jackson, and Sara. However, every family friend and neighbor fondly knew Paulette as “Grandma”.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Historic Church of St. Mary On Capitol Hill, 10 Lodge St., Albany, NY 12207.  Relatives and friends are invited.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers, people perform a random act of kindness.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
