Virginia C. “Ginny” Collins

GUILDERLAND – Virginia C. Collins, with her daughters by her side, died peacefully on Monday,  January 31, 2023 at the Teresian House. Born on November 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Neil and Anna Childs, she was a lifelong resident of Guilderland. A graduate of Vincentian Institute and an enduring parishioner of All Saints (St. Margaret Mary’s) Parish. She retired from the Watervliet Arsenal after many years of service. Ginny was an avid bowler and an active member of Western Turnpike Golf Course.

Ginny was predeceased by her husband of 61 years Donald E. Collins; her brothers Neil and William Childs, and her siter Barbara (Childs) Coogan.  She is survived by her daughters Joanne (Thomas) Passineau and Sharon (David) Barcomb; her brother Joseph Childs; her grandchildren Lisa (Roger) Keating, Stacey (Douglas) Breakell, Heather (David) Tagliaferro, Megan (George) Polino, Gregory (Andrea) Barcomb and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 8:15 a.m., and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS), where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m.  Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of one’s choice.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
