Valery N. Siniapkin

ALBANY – Valery N. Siniapkin, 86, of Albany, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Saratoga Hospital.  Mr. Siniapkin was born in Albany, and lived here most of his life.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II on the Manhattan Project, and after the war returned to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to complete his engineering degree in 1946.  He was employed for many years as a teacher and licensed professional engineer.  He taught at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Clarkson University, and served as a building construction engineering inspector for the New York State Dept. of Mental Hygiene.  He also was an avid bird watcher and a hunter.

Mr. Siniapkin was predeceased by his wife Maria Goettling Siniapkin.  He is survived by his sons George Siniapkin M.D. of Saratoga Springs, and John Siniapkin (Colleen) of Clifton Park; his brother Serge Siniapkin (Shirley) of Mt. Morris, NY; and by his grandchildren Alyssa, Matthew and Arielle Siniapkin.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Monday morning at 10:00, and from there to the interment at Memory Gardens in Colonie.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-7 p.m.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
