GLENMONT – Louis Foro, 84, of Glenmont, passed away peacefully Monday, September 29, 2014, at the Teresian House in Albany. He was the son of the late Luigi and Felecia Foro of Coeymans where he spent most of his younger days. On April 29, 1950 he married Paula Agnes Tateo until her passing in 1991. Lou proudly served in the US Army National Guard from 1951 through 1964 attaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He lived most of his adult life in Albany, Menands, and Glenmont. Lou was employed as a truck driver for almost 30 years by the former Tobin Packing Co.. He then worked for the Albany County Probation Dept. where he served as the Court Liaison Officer in Albany Police Court touching the lives of many families in the Albany area. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar. Lou enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to Cape Cod, fishing, music (especially Italian), food (especially Italian), playing poker with his many friends and family and playing bridge with his good friend Priscilla Dorvee. In addition, and often to his regret, he was a devoted Mets fan.
Louis was predeceased by his wife Paula and infant daughter Mary Beth; his brothers Pasquale, Ralph, Salvatore, George and Nicholas Foro and his sisters Caroline DiNatale, Nancy Foro, Mary Crocker, and Theresa Giacomeni. He is survived by his children Daniel Foro (Colleen) of Guilderland, David Foro (Madge) of Colonie, Laureen Foro of Latham, and Louis Foro (Kim) of Latham; his sister Louise Swarthout of Ravena; his grandchildren William Foro (Johna), Megan and Kara Foro, David Foro (Melissa), Alicia and Gregory Foro, Rob Sager (Leah), Maribeth and Diane Sager, Kailey Foro, and Brandon Rutland; his great grandchildren Zackary, Xavier, and Vin Foro, Anthony Giglia, Sophia and Haley Foro; Cameron Messick and by many nieces and nephews.
His family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful sisters, staff, volunteers and visitors on the 4th Floor of Teresian House for the kindness, compassion, and love shown to Lou while he was a resident there.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday morning at 9:00am, and from there to St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4-7 pm. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
