Kathleen A. Linehan

ALBANY – Kathleen A. Linehan, 70, of Albany, passed away in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital on Friday, January 10, 2014.  Kathleen, the daughter of the late Richard and Marjorie Linehan of Roslyn Heights, was born in Albany, and raised on Long Island.   She was a graduate of Syracuse University and resided in Albany continuously after college.  She was employed by the State of New York for over 25 years, first in the Department of Civil Service and then in the Governor’s Appointment Office, serving under Governors Carey and Cuomo.  She retired in 1993.  Kathleen was a patron of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center and loved the New York City Ballet.  She enjoyed horses and thoroughbred racing, and was a horse owner.  Kathleen also painted watercolors and was a devoted fan of Bruce Springsteen.

Kathleen is survived by her brother Richard Linehan of Fort Lauderdale, FL; by many cousins and valued extended family members including her cousins Elizabeth Potenza (Tony) of Albany and Mary Ellen Deighan (Gerard) of Slingerlands; by many friends including Larry Smith  (Onnolee) of Albany; and by her devoted caregiver Leah Sellie, to whom the family and friends extend their gratitude.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday evening at 6pm.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may also call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-6 pm, prior to the service.  Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, South Glens Falls.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, PO Box 834, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866,  http://www.trfinc.org.   To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
