Josephine Barranco

ALBANY – Josephine Barranco, 93, of Albany, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.  Mrs. Barranco was born in Sicily, Italy, the daughter of the late Nicolo LaTorre and Giuseppina Defina LaTorre.  She came to the United States in 1951, and settled in Brooklyn, where she lived until moving to Albany in 2012.  She was employed for a time as a seamstress.

Mrs. Barranco was predeceased by her beloved husband Domenico Barranco in 1968.  She is survived by her children Grace DiSpirito (Bruno) of Shirley, Josephine Barbella of Albany, John Barranco of Brooklyn, and Nicholas Barranco (Rosemarie) of Massapequa; and by ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by four sisters.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 8:00, and from there to the Parish of Mater Christi, Hurst Ave. & Hopewell St., at 9:00.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 12-4pm and from 7-9pm.  Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY, at 2pm Tuesday.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
