COLONIE – John M. Nealon of Colonie, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Nealon was born in Albany, and lived in Colonie his whole life. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves for a time, and was employed by Tobin First Prize in West Albany for many years. He later was employed by Equity Meats in Cohoes. He also owned and operated Colonie Snowmobile for many years. He was a Boy Scout leader in Troop 28, and loved the outdoors and the Adirondacks, enjoying boating, skiing, and snowmobiling. He also grew flowers in his garden, especially roses, and he loved to sing.
Mr. Nealon is survived by his beloved wife Margaret Parsons Nealon; his children Donna Crall of Colonie, Deborah Hogan of Delmar, and John Nealon (Jenny) of Halfmoon; his sister Betty Nelson (James) of Colonie; his grandchildren Thomas (Vicki), Ryan, Nick, Sarah, and Melissa; his great grandchildren Madison and Emily; and by two nieces.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Saturday morning at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Friday from 4-6 pm. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie. The family suggests memorial contributions to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
