Joan P. Moran

ALBANY – Joan P. Moran of Albany, died on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her home after a long illness.  She was a lifelong resident of the Albany area, and attended SUNY and Cornell University.  She was employed by the State of New York for twenty-one years, working for the Department of Health, and then for the Department of Environmental Conservation, where she was a Personnel Administrative Assistant, retiring in 1990.

Mrs. Moran was a communicant of the former Holy Cross Church in Albany, and there she served as a Eucharistic Minister.  She was also a volunteer in Pastoral Care at St. Peter’s Hospital, and was a member of the Public Employees Federation, and the Civil Service Employees Association.

Mrs. Moran was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Catherine Hanley Neth; sister of the late Donald B. Neth, and the late Carol A. Weiss.  She is survived by her two beloved and adored sons, William M. Moran of Mechanicville, and Danny P. Moran of Albany; her niece Kathleen Kenny; her nephew Michael Weiss.  Mrs. Moran was previously married to the late William F. Moran and the late Randolph M. Stelle, III.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday morning at 8:15 a.m., and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St. (behind CVS), at 9:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.  Entombment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.  The family requests that those desiring may send a remembrance in Joan’s name to All Saints Catholic Church, 12 Rosemont St., Albany, NY 12203, or to a charity of your choice.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
