Jeanie Haver

NISKAYUNA – Jeanie Haver, 61, passed away on November 23, 2010 at the St. Peter’s Hospice Inn after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.  Jeanie was born in Ann Arbor, MI to the late Donald and Joyce Haver.  She graduated from Scotia High School and lived in Schenectady county for most of her life.  In April, Jeanie retired from her 34 year career as a computer programmer for New York State.  Jeanie was a proud member of her labor union and served as a member mobilizer.  She was a generous, outgoing woman with an off-beat sense of humor.  Jeanie had a passion for gardening, knitting, cooking and an all-around passion for life.  She was (almost) always willing to try new things, and thus had eclectic tastes in music, books and food.

Jeanie is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Haver-Browne) Schwarz, son-in-law, Adam Schwarz, sister, Barbara Camarota, brothers, Thomas, Gregory & Wallace Haver, aunt, Phyllis LePard, beloved granddaughter, Joycelyn Schwarz, her many dearly loved friends and three nieces.  Jeanie (Gigi), we love you and will carry you in our hearts always.

Calling hours will begin Saturday at 10:30a.m. at Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave, Albany, followed by a memorial service at noon.  In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to Target Cancer, an organization that helps to fund research for otherwise underfunded cancers.  www.targetcancer.info  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
