Helen M. Hughes

SLINGERLANDS – Helen M. Hughes, 92, of Marie Rose Manor, Slingerlands, died Friday, December 3, 2010 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland.  Mrs. Hughes was born in Boston, and lived there all her life until moving to Slingerlands seven years ago.  She was employed by the New England Telephone Co. in Boston for many years, and was a member of The Grotto of Springfield, MA.

Mrs. Hughes was predeceased by her husband Peter F. Hughes in 1993.  She is survived by her daughter Helen Mary DeSimone and her son in law Rocco DeSimone of Athens, NY; and by her granddaughter Deanna DeSimone, graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 3 p.m., and after the service until 7 p.m.  Interment will be held privately at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, c/o Pastoral Care, 2 Mercycare Lane, Guilderland, NY 12084.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
