GUILDERLAND – H. Gladys Rings, 86, of Guilderland, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Rings was born in Albany, and lived in Albany and Guilderland all her life. She was employed for a time by the former American Meter Works in Albany where she met her husband of 63 years Frederick Rings, and was an active member for many years of St. Boniface Episcopal Church in Guilderland. She also enjoyed gardening and yard work, and having lunch with her friends.
Mrs. Rings was predeceased by her beloved husband Frederick G. Rings. She is survived by her sons Stephen Rings of Guilderland, Peter Rings (Eileen) of Scotia, and Jeffrey Rings (Kim) of Albany; her grandchildren Zachary White, Michael Rings and Alexander Rings; and by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings William Zimmerman, Pearl Harvey, and George, Robert, and Charles Zimmerman.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Western Diner for the friendship and kindness they extended to Mrs. Rings over the years. The family would also like to thank the caregivers at Angelina’s Home Care, LLC, who provided care to Gladys.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 9:00, and from there to St. Boniface Episcopal Church, 5148 Western Ave, Guilderland, at 10:00. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 5-7 p.m. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
