Gerard J. McNamara

ALBANY – Gerard J. “Gerry” McNamara, 88, died Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Evergreen Commons. Gerry was born in Albany, the son of the late Robert and M. Cecelia McClune McNamara. He lived here all his life. He was a communicant of the former St. Catherine of Siena Church, and was employed as a manager of an A&P Supermarket, and later by the Legislative Bill Drafting Commission of the New York State Legislature. He then took a position with the New York State Office of General services, working in promotion and public affairs planning special events at the Empire State Plaza. He also held a part time position at the restaurants located at the Albany Municipal Golf Course, and was a member of the Elks at BPOE Lodge 49 in Albany.

In addition to his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his brother Robert McNamara. He is survived by his daughter Erin McNamara-McCullough and his son Gerard McNamara; his granddaughter Keely McCullough; and his sole caregiver M. Sylvia Anapolis.

As per Gerry’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Interment will be private.
