GUILDERLAND – George F. Hallenbeck, 86, of Guilderland, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at his home.  George was born and raised in Hudson, the son of the late George and Dorothy Clowe Hallenbeck.  He was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Hudson, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He lived in the Poughkeepsie area for years, and spent the last 41 years in the Albany area.  He was employed by Nationwide Insurance, and for many years by Aetna Life & Casualty Co.  George was an accomplished woodcarver, and a member of the Mohawk Valley Woodcarvers Association.  He also was an avid hiker and canoeist, and loved to travel.  He was a member of ADK and was an Adirondack 46er.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling cross country many times.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary M. Kruszenski Hallenbeck; his daughters Sandra McCabe (Lawrence Hill), Lisa Reid (Brian), and Steven Hallenbeck (Mary); his grandchildren Rebecca and Brian, Kyle and Breanne, Logan, and Andrew and Victoria.  He was predeceased by his daughter Eileen McCue, his brothers Robert and Vernon and his sister Carole Hallenbeck.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9:00 in All Saints Catholic Church, Homestead St., Albany.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2-4 pm or 6-8 pm.  Interment will be in Saratoga National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  The family suggests memorial contributions to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205; or to ADK, 814 Goggins Rd., Lake George, NY 12845.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
