ALBANY – Catherine Louis, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born on March 17, 1918 in Attleboro, MA. A few years later, she and her family moved to Waterbury, CT, where she graduated from Wilby High School in 1937. The following year she married George Louis, and they were married nearly 70 years when he passed away in 2008.
For many years she was a partner in the family business, George’s Super Market, in Albany. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and we will miss eating her many delicious recipes. She was also an avid Yankee fan. Catherine was a very loving, kind and generous person. She loved getting together with her family and friends for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. In her later years, she enjoyed going out to eat at local restaurants with her family almost every week.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband George, brother Alec Kiriako, and her parents John and Doxsie Kiriako. She is survived by her brother Thomas (Alice) Kiriako and sister Mary Anderson; her loving sons Richard (Patricia) Louis, Robert (Cynthia) Louis, and Ronald Louis; her grandchildren Rick (Laura) Louis, Jill (Russ) Irving, Jennifer (Mike) Brown, Kim (Greg) Harris, and Scott (Holly) Louis; her great grandchildren Jessica, Madelyn, and Clare Louis, Nicole and Riley Irving, Emily and Christian Brown, and Kyle and Brynn Louis.
Funeral services will be held at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Wednesday morning at 10:15 and from there to St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, Whitehall Rd., Albany at 11:00. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany.
The family would like to thank the staff of Fresenius Dialysis and St. Peter’s Hospice Inn, for the wonderful care they provided to Catherine.
