REXFORD - Ann Miller Popkoski, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Thursday, October 9, 2025. Born to the late Howard Joseph Miller and Anne Elizabeth (O’Melia) Miller of Cedar Hill, N.Y., on November 12, 1939, she was predeceased by her sister, Eleanor Miller Erickson; and her brothers, Howard Joseph Miller Jr. and John Asa Miller. She is survived by her children, Edward (Sheri) Popkoski, Elin (William) Mattfeld, Julia (David Murray) Popkoski; and her grandchildren, Holden, Phoebe, Emma and Grace Popkoski and Sarah and John Mattfeld. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend, Mary Rita Siciliano Cratty, who brought tremendous love and joy to her life.

Ann attended the Little Red Schoolhouse in Cedar Hill, now the home of the Town of Bethlehem’s Historical Society. She then attended Academy of the Holy Names, where she was among the first graduates of the new school in 1958. It was here that she established friendships that would span more than 70 years. She was always excited to plan luncheons and holiday gatherings for her classmates. Known for her arm full of silver bracelets, Ann also always wore her AHN class ring, allowing her to make further connections with other alumni.

Ann continued her education at Mildred Elley before embarking on travels that took her to Ala., and Schwabisch Gmund, Germany. She relished her time in Europe and again forged lifelong friendships. Ann worked as a kindergarten teacher while in Germany, and as an office manager at Underwriter’s Rating Board in Schenectady, N.Y. She also owned her own business, designing floral arrangements for special occasions. Ann was most proud of her role as a mother. She was actively involved in many school organizations and was supportive of a number of extracurricular activities.

Ann had a special love for dogs. She had many dachshunds and a collie-greyhound that were companions through her life. She loved visits from her “granddogs” and always had treats on hand for any canine passers-by!

Ann will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family and friends, but her life will go on in the memories she created and the stories we will share. Always a gracious host, her longtime close friend, Rev. Richard Shaw, once said you could show up unannounced at her house at 4:00 on a Tuesday, and there would be a full-blown party by 4:15!

Calling hours will be held at Hans Funeral Home, on Western Ave., in Albany, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, at michaeljfox.org. To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com
