Nancy Marie “Nonnie” Changelo

LATHAM – Nancy Marie “Nonnie” Changelo, 80, of Latham, NY passed away peacefully at St. Peters Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Nancy was born in Ausable Forks on November 5, 1937, daughter of Vedo Changelo.  Nancy graduated from  Ausable Valley High School.  In 1958, she gave birth to Mona, Michelle, and Maureen; triplets, an achievement so unique that she became a local celebrity.  From the time the girls could speak, Nancy’s home became the “Youth Center”. She took in the town “strays” and provided a loving and understanding home for all.  Her professional life spanned multiple enterprises; from assistant to the director of the School of Nursing at CDPHP, to owning her own sporting goods store, Nancy’s careers were as eclectic and unique as she was.

Nancy’s passions in life, by order of importance were her grandchildren and daughters, tennis, ginger ale and her young male doctors.  A survivor of breast cancer, Nancy was a fiery woman, who pushed through life even when the hits kept coming.

Nancy had a sharp wit, and loved to make people laugh; though most of her best jokes are far too inappropriate for publication. Nancy had the ability to make you laugh with just a well placed smirk.

She is survived by her three daughters Mona Gaylord of Latham NY, Michelle Pierce (Rick McCorry) of Rotterdam, NY, and Maureen Hoskins of Doylestown, PA. As well as her adoring grandchildren Jessica & Scott Flannery of Lincoln, ME, Justine Chart of Lincoln, ME, Lyndsay and Collin Ausfeld of Boston, MA, Aubrey Pierce of Clifton Park, NY, Joshua Hoskins of Doylestown, PA and last, but certainly not least, her great grand-baby Kennedy Flannery of Lincoln, ME.

Nancy chose to donate her body to science in the hopes of helping find a cure for Alzheimers.

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at First Reformed Church of Scotia, 224 North Ballston Ave., Scotia NY 12302. The family will receive relatives and friends after the service from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
