ALBANY – Mary Coppolino, 95, of Albany, died Friday, July 2, 2010 in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital surrounded by her family.  Mrs. Coppolino was born in Chatham, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Chiartano Scarano.  She lived most of her life in Albany, and was employed for a time as a glove inspector at the Ashe Manufacturing Co. in Rensselaer.  She also was a communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church, and was very active in parish activities including the Rosary Society and the Seniors.  She was a member of the Italian American Community Center in Albany, and the American Italian Heritage Association in Albany.

Mrs. Coppolino was predeceased by her husband Joseph Coppolino.  She is survived by her sister Camille Malm (Carl Malm, Sr.) of Vienna, VA; her nieces and nephews Carl Malm, Jr. of Vienna, VA, Kenneth Malm (Nancy) of Bethesda, MD, Pamela Malm Emmet (Francis Xavier) of Germantown, MD, John Scarano, Jr. of Colonie, Steven L. Scarano of Colonie, Margaret Scarano Morin (James) of Ocala, FL, Santa Coppolino Pasquini of Albany, and Ann Coppolino Sweeney (William) of Delanson; and by many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers Louis J. Scarano, John J. Scarano, and Lawrence R. Scarano; and by her sister Lucy Scarano Schilipote.

Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Thursday morning at 8:45, and from there to All Saints Catholic Church (formerly St. Margaret Mary’s Church), Homestead St., Albany.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.  The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Guilderland Center Nursing Home, Our Lady of Mercy Life Center and Hospice Inn for the wonderful care they provided Mrs. Coppolino.  To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
