Margaret M. “Jackie” Stafford

ALBANY – Margaret M. “Jackie” Stafford, 90, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Teresian House.  Mrs. Stafford was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Herman and Loretta Durand Mendel.  She was employed for many years by the New York State Dept. of Education, and later by Honigsbaum’s Store in Stuyvesant Plaza.  She also was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church, and enjoyed playing bingo with her sisters.

Mrs. Stafford was predeceased by her husband Kenneth D. Stafford.  She is survived by her sons James M. King of Stony Creek, and Stephen C. King of Menands; her sister Madeline Rosenthal; her brothers Charles Mendel (Ann) and Herman Mendel (Patty); and by several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sisters Sr. Dorothy Mendel, RSM, and Constance Curry; and her brother Eugene Mendel.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care provided to Mrs. Stafford by the staff of the second floor of the Teresian House.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Infant of Prague Chapel of the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, Saturday morning at 11:15.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany on Friday from 4-7 p.m., or at the Teresian House Saturday morning beginning at 10:00.  Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Teresian House Memorial Fund, 200 Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12203.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, send a sympathy card, or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.
