ALBANY – Lawrence D. Walker, 66, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. He was born October 17, 1954 in Watervliet, the son of the late Frank and Rose Morelli Walker. Lawrence graduated from Albany High in 1972. He was a successful business owner, and an award-winning Real Estate Broker for 26 years. He had a way of creating a connection with people and making everyone feel like family. In his earlier years, he was known as Kato. He played in local bands such as Tommy and the Originals, Your Move, and Kicks. He filled his home with music, playing many instruments and constantly writing songs. He carried his passion for music throughout his life. His passing leaves a painfully empty place in the hearts of anyone who knew him. He treasured time with his family and was generous with his talents.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years Ann Dollard Walker. Together they raised four incredible sons, Kerry J. Walker (Cara), Peter L. Walker (Emilee), Nicholas J. Walker, and Thomas P. Walker (Samantha Armentano). He is also survived by his grandchildren Peter L. Walker, Elora G. Walker, Miles J. Walker, Simon K. Walker, and Samuel L. Walker; his siblings June Bowen, James Walker, Linda Hedman (Ed), and Kenneth Walker (Debra); and by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law Gene Bowen and his sister-in-law Sandy Walker.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Wednesday, May 19th, from 4-7 p.m. To leave a message of condolence for the family or obtain directions to the funeral home, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.

I didn’t know Larry well or for very long but when I went to his house I instantly felt welcome. He had a pleasant aura and his family were all smiles when greeting me. I could tell he was very into music and we had a great jam session. Sending my deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Lawrence took our family under his wing when we relocated to the Albany area from Japan. We had no idea about housing, let alone the ins-and-outs of real estate. He was very kind. Our daughter also was in Holy Cross w/ with Larry and Ann’s sons. Our fond memories along with condolences to the Walker family.

I knew Kato from mid 70’s via my then boyfriend and his friends. Such a nice kind person. We then crossed paths briefly as he was showing a house on Wood Terr. That we were looking at around ‘96. RIP Kato! Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand. ☘️☘️

Condolences to Kerry Walker and family
Your Dad sold my home to me 19 years ago and I’ll never forget how he took a chance on a young woman with small children and worked hard to find me a good home. I wish I’ve know Lawrence Walker was your Dad working with you all these years. He was a great man and I always appreciated what he did. I’ll miss the cards and calendars he sent every year. Prayers to you and your family.

My Uncle Larry was a special man. He was an “old soul” who would brighten up every room he walked into. He will live on for me in my heart always. My condolences to my aunt Ann and her family during this difficult time.

There are no words… The void is too vast & deep – and the sudden loss of such a noble & honorable man is difficult to bear…
Fortunately his amazing character, life force and very soul will live on through his greatest legacy-times four: Kerry, Peter, Nick & Tom – four of the finest young men we have ever had the pleasure to know & enjoy! RIP, dear Lawrence… Rest In Peace!
