ALBANY – Joseph F. Fisher, 81, of Albany, passed away Friday, June 5, 2015 at the Teresian House.  Joe was born in Kingston, NY on January 26, 1934 to the late Joseph Vivian Fisher and Florence Agnes Brazee.   He served in the U.S. Navy for four years starting during the Korean War.  A graduate of Marist College, he was employed for 36 years by Central Hudson Gas & Electric, spending 25 years at the New York Power Pool in Guilderland, NY.  Joe was also a communicant of Christ the King Church, where he served as an usher for many years.  He also volunteered at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joe is survived by his beloved spouse Kathleen J. Fisher; his children Deborah Rahn (Mark) of Scotia, Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Venice, FL, and Joseph F. Fisher, Jr. of Menands; his grandchildren Laura Leib (Greg), and Sara Slocum (Jonathan); and his great grandchildren Gavin Leib and Spencer Slocum; his siblings Vivian Brown (John) of Ocala, FL, Robert Fisher (Mari) of Newburgh, and Mary Lou Stopczynski (Gus) of Ulster Park; his sister-n-law Sandi Fisher of Kingston; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.  He was predeceased by his first wife Emma Fisher, his sisters Joan Kozlowski (John), and Catherine Keating, and his brother John Fisher.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Drs. Stefan Swicker, Peter Lamparello, Arthur Sunkin, Alan Sanders, and Yusuf Dincer and their staffs, as well as the staff of the Teresian House and members of Christ the King Church and Catholic Charities for the kindness and care extended to Joe during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10:30am in Christ the King Church, Sumpter Ave., Guilderland.  Relatives and friends are invited.  There will be no calling hours.  Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Teresian House Activities Dept, 4th Floor B Wing, 200 Washington Ave, Albany, NY.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany.  To leave a message of condolence for the family, please visit www.HansFuneralHome.com.

    I worked with Joe at the New York Power Pool in the ’70’s and have many fond memories of that experience. Sincere regrets to his family on his passing, and hopes that fond memories carry you through this difficult time.
