
ALBANY – Joseph E. Montana, 93, of Albany, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015 in Great Barrington, MA. Mr. Montana was born in Albany, and lived in the same neighborhood all his life. He served in the U.S. Army Infantry during World War II, and was employed as a toolmaker by the Simmons Fastener Corp. for 26 years. He then worked for the Operating Engineers Local 106 for 13 years, retiring in 1977. He was a communicant of the former St. Margaret Mary’s Church, and a member of the Elks Lodge #49 in Albany, and of the Bucci McTague VFW Post #1530 in Albany.
Mr. Montana was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Zina A. Bursese Montana, and by his daughter Judith Montana Sumner. He is survived by his children Frank D. Montana (Georgene) of The Villages, FL, and Joseph Montana (Patricia) of Cape Coral, FL; his sisters Mary Cocca of Albany, and Frances Corcione of Loudonville; his brother in law Anthony Corio of Chula Vista, CA; his grandchildren David Sumner (Alisa), Michael Sumner and Stephen Sumner (Janet), Julie Montana-O’Donoghue (Mark), Stacey Montana Rivera, Joseph E. Montana, and Tiffany Montana; his great grandchildren Michael, Shannon, and Ryan Sumner, Elena and Annalise Rivera, Sean and Madison O’Donoghue, and Hannah Sumner; and by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, Tuesday morning at 8:15, and from there to All Saints Catholic Church, 16 Homestead St., Albany (behind CVS) at 9:00. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call at the funeral home Monday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Bernard & Millie Duker Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208.
