
ALBANY – John Andrew Miskewicz, Sr., 83, of Albany, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. Son of Andrew and Anna, he was born in Albany and a lifelong resident. He was employed by Graves & Rodgers, Freihofer’s Baking Company, and CDTA. He made many happy memories during summer vacations with his family in Rye, New Hampshire, and was a member of the Albany Elks, the Portsmouth New Hampshire Elks, and the Polish American Citizens Club. He was also a devoted fan of the Red Sox.
John is survived by his children John A. Miskewicz, Jr. (Edie) of Delmar, Kim Smith (Larry) of Apple Mountain, VA, and Alan Miskewicz (Michelle) of Sudbury, MA; grandchildren Alex and Drew (Jennifer) Philipchik, Catrin Miskewicz, Coby Pennington, Eddie, Jonathan, and Carmen Smith, Alannah and Derek Miskewicz, and great-granddaughter Leah Marie Philipchik. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, daughter Sherry Pennington, and siblings Steve and Joe Miskewicz, Stella Wood, Anna Wooding, and Jenny McLennon.
John’s family would like to give special thanks to his niece Donna and very good friend Jerry who were always there for him.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hans Funeral Home, Albany. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
