Thanks so much to your dad for giving me a job at the restaurant- starting on dishes and then moving to making pizza. A few of my friends worked there as well. Your dad took care of us as if we were his kids and I will never forget his kindness and his caring. A great guy and a great boss- I am 52 now and started working there when I was 14- I remember Roma’s and your dad fondly still and always will remember the many lessons that he taught us.

For many years on my return to Gloversville to visit friends & family I made it a point to stop and see John. A great guy to say the least. I spent many of my growing years at Cappello’s Roma and learned a lot about the restaurant business from John. When I opened my own restaurant in the late 70’s I even named a main entree for him. “Manicotti Cappello”. People like John do not enter our lives very often, It was a priveledge to know him, and of course he will be missed!
